Chicago-It was around that time that runners in the Chicagoland region and around the world began preparing for one of America’s largest road races.
Like most things in 2020, the Chicago Marathon was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will be back again this year. However, as the virus continues to be part of the lives of everyone in the world, there are some changes this year, including the one announced on Tuesday.
Race participants must provide a complete COVID-19 vaccination proof or negative COVID-19 test to participate. Those attending a health and fitness expo at McCormick Place prior to the event face similar requirements.
Masks are not required during the race or around outdoor events around the event, but it is recommended to wear them at Grant Park before and after the race. Masks are required in the tent area and will be provided to participants after the race.
Larry Hawley covered some of these measures in Tik Tok Sports Talk on Tuesday at WGN News Now. You can see it in the video above.
