Southern Illinois Miner’s season gives local businesses economic boost
MARION, Ill (WSIL) — Wednesday was the home opener for the Southern Illinois Miners.
The team, who plays at Rent One Park in Marion, had to suspend their season last year because of the pandemic.
News 3 checked in with local restaurants about the Miner’s return.
17th Street BBQ says the team’s return will bring people to the restaurant.
“We are all so excited about moving into a post-pandemic world, the return of the Miners, all of the other events that you see in the area and in the region. All of that is helping our economy start again and that is a very good thing.” said Amy Mills, owner of 17th BBQ.
Mills also says any type of activity or game in our area increases revenue.
