SCHAUMBURG — The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois Thursday said Schaumburg is one of the first municipalities in the nation to be recognized as a Better Business Town.

Better Business Town is a new designation from the BBB to identify highly engaged local communities that actively promote an ethical and trustworthy business marketplace.

Schaumburg was selected because of its outstanding and dynamic business community, the BBB said. Schaumburg is the largest center of economic development in the state, outside the city of Chicago, and is home to nearly 5,000 businesses that employ more than 80,000 people.

Also, Schaumburg always appears in the BBB’s Top 10 list for total number of BBB Accredited Businesses, as well as total number of monthly consumer visits to BBB.org.

“Schaumburg is one of the most vibrant business communities in Illinois, so it comes as no surprise that many of their businesses are BBB Accredited,” said Steve Bernas, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois.

“We’re proud to see our local business community, as well as our residents, working together in support of a marketplace founded on trust and ethical business practices,” Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly said. “Being named a Better Business Town further validates our commitment to supporting our businesses and providing every Schaumburg customer with an exceptional experience.”
