Oswego Democratic State Representative Stephanie Kifowit is encouraging area businesses to apply for the Back to Business Grant Program, which has been setup to help the recovery of small businesses from losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant program opened for applications on Wednesday.
The Back to Business program has $250 million in grants to support small businesses and is being administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Grants can range from $5,000 to $150,000. To be considered, businesses must demonstrate a loss in revenue in 2020 compared to 2019. Any business can apply, but priority will be given to the restaurant, hotel, and art industries hit hard by shutdowns during the pandemic.
Kifowit says the grants can be a lifeline to bushiness struggling to work out of the pandemic. More information can be found at dceo.illinois.gov.
