Indiana Quake Rattles Central Illinois
An earthquake registering 3.8 on the Richter scale moved across Central Illinois Thursday afternoon.
The quake originated in Montezuma, Indiana which is just across the border.
But viewers tell us they felt it here too.
It was just after 2:00 p.m.
You may have felt the ripple effect.
Folks like Phyllis Crouch in Peoria felt them from over 125 miles away in Peoria.
“All of a sudden my bed started shaking somewhat unusually. And in the shower the shower door started shaking. And i said to my sister i think there’s an earthquake,” said Phyllis Crouch.
She says it lasted about 5 to 7 seconds and didn’t cause any damage.
But she was startled, and added that it’s definitely not something you experience every day in Central Illinois.
